Kirsten Møller Nielsen is a Danish artist and designer. Living in the countryside outside Aarhus.
Educated fashion designer and work with product design, has led her into the work with art. Her work is driven by curiosity and the fascination of materials, form and a play between contrasts; Contrast between light and shadow, fragility and robustness, amorphous and sharp. There is a focus on process – an almost meditative repetition – resulting in a tactile universe. The variety of materials which are incorporated in the sculptures is what creates the texture and form. The knot being a key element in the sculptures, has various meanings in different cultures; The fortune paper (O-mikuji) in Japanese temples The Danish “huske-knude” (things to remember) As well as references to marriage, eternity and many other cultural meanings.
