ARIS MOORE
In finely detailed portraits created with graphite and colored pencil, New Hampshire–based artist Aris Moore explores the tensions within human nature—the beautiful and the grotesque, childhood and adulthood, perception and emotion. While her subjects are often women, she also depicts men, couples, families, and children, portraying them with subtly deconstructed features arranged in unsettling, disproportionate ways. Some areas of her compositions are rendered with meticulous precision, while others dissolve into softness and ambiguity.
