ERLEND MIKAEL SÆVERUD

Erlend Mikael Sæverud (1975) is a Norwegian photographer and visual artist who has distinguished himself both in the local and international art scenes. After initially pursuing a career as a musician and music producer, he began with photography following a car accident in 2007, where it became a central part of his recovery process.

Erlend captures light and shadow in a unique and distinctive way. His images are a blend of spontaneous moments and careful planning. He sees potential in architecture, in special lighting, or a random passerby, and he can wait for hours in the same spot for all of these elements to come together at the right moment. Erlends has taken inspiration from René Magritte, Edward Hopper, Film noir and Surrealism.

In his latest exhibition “Orbit”, Erlend Mikael Sæverud continues his search for stories that unfold in the city. This time in the streets of Paris, Amsterdam, New York, Stockholm and Oslo. Places that Erlend himself has a personal connection to.

Erlend Mikael Sæverud is represented by Galleri Ramfjord in Oslo, as well as Ronan Art Gallery in Amsterdam and Galerie Dessers in Belgium. He has gained recognition in international photography competitions such as the Spider Awards and International Color Awards, where he received Honor of Distinction and Honorable Mention, respectively. He has created public art installations for Ringnes Park and has sold works to collections such as Norges Bank, Ferd, and the Office of the Attorney General of Norway.
